The Home Upgrade, Carbon Downgrade Program helps Chula Vista residents and businesses reduce their energy/water use and utility costs, while stimulating the local economy and lowering the community's greenhouse gas or "carbon" emissions. This program matches dollar for dollar the Energy Upgrade California Program. Home Owners in Chula Vista can get up to $8,000 in free improvements for their homes! California Solar Initiative (CSI) Rebate
The California Solar Initiative (CSI) is the solar rebate program for California consumers that are customers of San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E) and Southern California Edison (SCE). The CSI program has a total budget of $2.167 billion between 2007 and 2016 and a goal to install approximately 1,940 MW of new solar generation capacity. This rebate is for solar systems on existing homes, new home construction projects or major remodel projects and is currently set at .35 cents per watt.
New Solar Homes Partnership (NSHP) Rebate
The California Energy Commission's New Solar Homes Partnership (NSHP) is part of the comprehensive statewide solar program, known as the California Solar Initiative. The NSHP provides financial incentives and other support to home builders, encouraging the construction of new, energy efficient solar homes that save homeowners money on their electric bills and protect the environment. This rebate is for solar systems on new home construction or major remodel projects and is significantly higher than the CSI rebate at $2.50 per watt.
30% Federal Tax Credit
The Residential Renewable Energy Tax Credit provides a onetime 30% federal tax credit for all home owners implement solar. This paired with the CSI or NSHP rebates provides deep discounts on residential and commercial solar systems.
